Unknowns

Unknowns. As in more unknowns than knowns. That makes an equation harder to solve, yet perhaps more interesting!

In Process... and Done! [updated]

I've gone back to drawing on paper since it is more calming somehow. I understand that effect is due to the stronger tactile sensations. It is true that there is something quite sensuous about fine cotton rag drawing paper!

Here is a rare shot of a work in process: I need to finish filling in the background, but the overall composition is starting to come to life.

...[much later] and here it is in finished form. Sorry for the glare; I only have my cell phone camera right now.

And here is a detail of the 'sky':

Light III

Coming out of the dark into some chaos, of course. Yet the important part is there is now light.

Healthcare Reform Debate

It's a tough slog to recover. And I know that I am one of the lucky ones: I have disability insurance, I have a good health plan which has covered the cost of almost everything, and I have access to excellent health care providers. But what if those things weren't true?

They're not true for tens of millions of our fellow citizens here in the United States, and that makes our country weaker.

Sick people can't participate in work, family, or service. Bankrupt people can't pay taxes to support their communities. People who don't have easy access to providers spend all their time and energy getting care and can't be creative and productive.

So, next time some nut tells you that health care is a privilege and not a right, ask them why they want our great nation to be weak!

Incompetent "Facilitator"

This one's for you, Jeb, for allowing illness to run amok and fights to break out. All unremarked. All pointless.

Yeah, it sucks. Yet a purring cat snuggled into your side makes it a bit more bearable.

Back Now

The problems have been work stress, some long-delayed elective surgery (which should have been done 32 years ago, frankly) and my ongoing dental saga.
And yet, there are bigger problems in the world. For example, just today we found out about the death of a work colleague. My condolences to his widow and infant son.
